Larry Brice Warden was born in Sidney, Nebraska and was raised in western Oklahoma. He attended school in Laverne in early years and graduated from Hooker High School. He attended Central State College (now the University of Central Oklahoma) in Edmond, Oklahoma. 


In 1970, Larry and his wife Harolene (Munson) moved to Edmond and he started working for the Oklahoma House of Representatives. For the next thirty four years he served in various positions in the House with the last twenty years serving as the Chief Clerk/Administrator and House Parliamentarian. While he was with the House he served under eight different Speakers. He retired from the House of Representatives in February of 2005.

During his years with the House, he was a member of the National Legislative Services and Security Association serving three years on the executive committee and when named Chief Clerk and Administrator in 1984 joined the American Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries, a group of the Chief Legislative Officers of all fifty states and U.S. territories. He served as Chairman of many different committees and for six years on the executive board. In 1995 he was elected President of the Society. Because of his expertise on legislative rules and procedures he was appointed to the Mason’s Manual Revision Commission to help revise the most respected and widely used Legislative Procedures Manual of all state Legislatures He has also served since 1985 on the State Capitol Preservation Commission and in 2007 was appointed to the Board of Directors of Friends of the Capitol.

In 1999 he was given the opportunity by then Speaker Loyd Benson to direct the complete restoration of the House of Representatives Chamber which was one of his proudest accomplishments during his tenure with the House.

Larry and Harolene have one son, Larry Jr., who lives in Edmond with his wife Jennifer (Tubergen) and are blessed with two wonderful grandsons Brice and Brock.
